Slightly Off Topic
This morning as I was making my coffee the door buzzer rang. I was expecting FedEx today with a textbook. I thought hmm it’s a little early for FedEx ground … The box was from the “Fruit of the Month Club” which, last I checked, I was not subscribed to. On it there was a note:
Greetings Mayor! Welcome to Animal Crossing: New Leaf!
Enjoy fruit from our town to yours.
Your Friends at Nintendo
Inside Were apples, pears, and what must certainly be a perfect pear.
What? No cherries? Hanabi has cherries! Even a couple perfect ones.
Thanks, Nintendo!
…and my textbook still hasn’t arrived.
I Seek Approval
So, yesterday after waking up in my cozy tent I went to visit Isabelle to get the skinny on this mayor gig. But before letting me do anything even related to the job—aside from sitting in the super comfy chair in back—Isabelle is making me get a “town development permit”. In order to get said permit I have to own a house…in order to own a house I have to scrape together 10,000 bells for Tom Nook…
and I have to get a 100% approval rating from the citizens of Hanabi. My approval rating when I asked:
I set about trying to raise my rating by hanging around townies and hoping they would ask me for favors, fishing and hoping to get some trash that I could recycle to show my commitment to the environment, and changing my town flag and my town tune.
I’m happy to announce that I finally got 100% approval rating today. However, Isabelle informs me that processing may take a day or two, so in the meantime I’m scraping up bells for my loan (that first 10k was just a down payment) and getting to know my townies.
Get Rich Quick?
I don’t know who thought it would be a good idea for me to leave home and start out on my own without a cent to my name. It seems a little foolhardy.
My get rich quick scheme includes salvaging seashells, selling hapless bugs and fish and hoping to get a duplicate fossil so Blathers won’t guilt me into donating it. So far the fossil part isn’t working out so well. Everything I’ve dug up is new and Blathers can’t wait to display it. And once I do get a few bells saved up I go and spend it all on new furniture or clothes.
Here are a few of the creatures I’ve caught:
My hobbies include:
When not scrounging up money and getting stung by bees I like to grow hybrids. I’m hoping to figure out how to get blue roses in the near future (attempts in Kasen are still not panning out). Isabelle gave me a watering can and I transplanted most of my flowers and have watered them diligently. I had a couple hybrids on my second day in town and even more today (my third).
Meet Charlise
I tried to meet her this morning, but she sleeps in until 11am. Sheesh.
I’ll be honest. I think she’s absolutely hideous. I’m not one to whack my townies with nets and place pitfall traps in front of their houses, but if I were, she’d be a target. Please let the next one be cute.
Fortune’s Fool
The first visitor to Hanabi: Katrina. Yay I can understand her! (and she still makes no sense!) Although I don’t have a blue diamond tee…Anyone have one?
And now I have bells to scrounge, so I’ll leave you with a few more pics. If you want more pictures, visit the Animal Crossing New Leaf Set on my flickr page.
Have you tried to visit your other town yet?
@Aika Tears I think that would be a slippery slope and I’m trying to enjoy starting the game over and understanding it completely, so I’m just playing solo for a little bit.
To get blue roses, I heard you had to plant 2 second generation red roses (as in the offspring of a pink/orange/black rose turned out to be red) next to each other and then they’ll have a chance to create a blue rose.
@Annie That’s the advice I got as well, but so far I haven’t gotten any. Either they’re really rare or my second generation red roses aren’t really second generation…
