Animal Crossing New Leaf US: In the Overthere

Stalk Market for Tuesday July 2

AM: 36 Bells
PM: 151 Bells

The week started out abysmally with prices in the 40s. I’m hoping for a huge spike since it went to 151 this evening. Turnips don’t fail me now!

Yesterday in Hanabi

It rained. A lot. It rained in all 3 of my towns. I’m kinda sick of the rain. I hope the message board notice about the rain abating soon is to be believed. Bring on the heat. I have a bikini. I’ll be ok.

Re-Tail Proprietors are Cruel

I went to check on what Re-Tail was paying extra bells for: Tarantulas. Mean! Mean, I say! I can’t even catch them in the downpour.

Half-Drowned Seagull: Check

Gulliver washed up again. I kinda want to go with him to his destination.

My choices were:

  • Maldives
  • Guam
  • Hawaii
  • Italy

I knew what I would be getting in the mail and I figured it would look quite nice in a beach-themed room. And from there my day devolved into scavenging various summery items.

European DLC

My friend Emma was kind enough to give me a shaved ice lamp, a new European DLC. I don’t know the specifics of how it’s obtained (not being in Europe and all), but I do know that you cannot order it from the catalog (since I tried to catalog it Sunday night and was very sad Monday morning when I couldn’t order it.)

Whack, whack, whack!

One of the items I decided that my beach-themed room needed was a decent floor, specifically the tropical floor and I didn’t have one. I lucked out in that one of my friends on ACUKE had one on her island and was willing to do tours with me until I could purchase it. It cost 100 medals and I had just spent all mine on a wet suit leaving me with 2. Thanks, Amy! My room would be very sad without your help. LOL.

New Critters

I didn’t get too many new catches yesterday (and today) because of the pouring rain. I caught a sweetfish, and a handful of soggy cicadas. The one big thing I did catch quite by accident was an arapaima. Glad I got that out of the way!

Of course I still need a tarantula and a scorpion. I rarely see tarantulas and haven’t come across a scorpion yet. Any tips?

Today in Hanabi

I got my mail and my hula dancer from Gulliver. Hooray! I then set about to finish putting together the beach room. There are still some things I’d like to put in it after I expand it fully (hopefully tomorrow). But a couple of the items I want I don’t have.

Does anyone have:

  • surfboard (from campers)
  • propane stove (from campers)
  • lawn chair
  • beach table (from the island)

This is the room so far:

It got in my bikini and snapped a picture for the Photo a Day Challenge: Day 2.

Yeah, it’s kind of cheating, but I didn’t feel like standing on the beach trying to figure out what emotion to use to liven up the picture.

Emotion in Motion

I have been dutifully watching Shrunk’s tedious comedy act and I’m happy to report that tomorrow I should receive the final emotion. I can’t wait! I love his little dance. His jokes, not so much.

Not much else happened today. I didn’t have any special visitors. And my wordpress is failing when uploading images (I’m looking at you, Dreamhost—turning into nightmare-host!) which makes blogging something less than fun. So, I’m going to cut this short.

Where did you get that idea?

I got him via spotpass. Is he one of the developers? Or someone I should know?

I never got the shy vibe from you, Julian (explaining why he wanted me to deliver something to Soleil)

P.S. I received a US copy of Animal Crossing New Leaf from Nintendo. Thanks, Nintendo!

  1. I’m in the same boat as far as catching tarantulas and scorpions go…

I actually caught one tarantula, with my pattern slave, BY MISTAKE. I just got the net out and jokingly tried to catch it (it was running towards me and in old games they would usually jump and avoid the net?), and BAM, tarantula. Couldn’t stand giving it to the museum as I wouldn’t have it in my mayor’s encyclopedia, so I sold it.

And I really like your beach themed room! Very very cute :3

  2. I actually caught my Tarantula a while back and my Scorpion earlier toda–well, yesterday night now. The main thing is they tend to wander in a circle now and you need a good amount of open space. They WILL go on paths, but I have not seen them anywhere near a lot of flowers, bushes, or trees.

I have a few big rectangular spaces with nothing right now (since I still need to work on hybrid breeding) which helped so I just stood in one of these areas and kept doing Save + Continue to help refresh the spawns–eventually got one to pop up.

Then it was just a matter of moving a bit so I was technically “off-screen” from it, equipping my net and then sneaking over to it/holding A–after some careful aim, I got it.

I actually was streaming when I caught it so I did a highlight here:

  3. I am pretty sure I have the Propane Stove and Surfboard. But if the surfboard is not re-orderable then I can’t give that to you, cause I sold it. :3

I post my FC on your ACNL WishList, still waiting 3 more hours until my items come in from ordering. 😀

  4. @Jenn I actually caught a tarantula last night! (Blog to follow) I didn’t know about the save and continue trick for spawning. I’ll have to try that for the scorpion—that I still haven’t even seen. Thanks for the tip!
