Stalk Market for Tuesday, September 3
AM: 134 Bells
PM: 160 Bells
What is this blogging thing and do I still remember how to do it? I took an impromptu day off yesterday because it’s what Isabelle would have wanted, and now it seems like I haven’t chronicled Hanabi in eons. Let’s see if I can remember what’s been going on.
Edit: In the midst of writing this post my iphoto crashed and somehow deleted my pictures from the last few days. When I import them off my SD card I delete them, so they’re gone. F*&%###@!%&(k!
Edit #2: So, I rebuilt the database and the pictures are back, but I’m not in the best of moods after that fiasco, so this may be short.
hide-and-seek
I swear, everyone wants to play hide-and-seek lately. I never get tired of looking for my villagers because most of them are really bad at hiding and I find them peeking around houses and public works projects adorable.
Happy New Month!
I was so excited for the turn of the month. I wanted to get a jump on catching critters, but of course when I stepped out of my house on September first it was raining cats and dogs (and maybe unicorns). No new bugs for Vella…
Felicity tried to move to ring in the new month. I vetoed. I don’t have her picture yet. And though originally I was kind of “meh” about her, she’s growing on me. She’s pretty cute. Although if she gives me her picture I may let her go…
Joan was trying to sell turnips for 109 bells apiece. Once again I declined to purchase (in any of my towns). Maybe next week I’ll start the turnip game again.
Since I couldn’t catch new bugs I caught a couple new fish: the salmon and king salmon. It was too late to try for a pike. And mitten crabs don’t show up until after the 15th. I tried to dive for an oyster, but had no success. I didn’t catch any new diving creatures because besides the oyster, the rest of them that I need for the month don’t show up until the 15th (sweet shrimp, spiny lobster, and clam).
Public Works Projects
I haven’t put anything new in recently. Still haven’t gotten a request for a jungle gym. I also wouldn’t mind a scarecrow in time for Halloween—Come on townies!
I’m toying with the idea of putting a stone tablet in, but I can’t decide where to put it. While in Japan on Miyajima island we saw a stone table that reminds me a lot of the one in game. It had the name of the park carved in it, but somehow I don’t think it matches Hanabi’s very bright playground. Maybe in/by the cherry grove south of the playground, or in/by the cherry grove by Vella’s house. I’ll have to think it over.
Felicity wants a metal bench. I might replace the bench I have over by town hall with the metal bench. Because these are the only two that have been requested. Obviously I want the zen bench, but I’m not holding my breath.
Shep’s Picture
I don’t even remember what errand I ran, but Shep rewarded me with his picture. I’ve been trying to make all my townies happy and so far it seems to be working. So I still need Rooney, Julian, O’Hare, Felicity, and Tia’s pictures. I don’t know where the heck I’ll put them once I get them. My room is getting full.
Labor Day
It wasn’t raining today, so I had my net at the ready. I snagged a red dragonfly right off the bat. I had to wait until evening before catching a cricket and a bell cricket. Vella only needs 2 bugs to complete her encyclopedia. I know one of them is the dung beetle, so that’s going to be awhile. I have to look up what the other bugs she needs.
Today in the United States was labor day. Isabelle handed picnic baskets out to anyone who stopped and chatted with her. And there was an adorable sporty, picnicky cutout.
I ran into the badge man! I didn’t know he was out on holidays and I forgot that I was expecting him. Saturday night I listened to K.K. for quite a while (25 songs worth) completing the requirement for the K.K. Slider Diehard badge. Now I have to work on that with Yumi. She’s only got bronze.
I have been trying not to turn down villagers when they want to visit at a specific time and vice versa. I was at 12:30 visiting O’Hare and making sure I returned to my house by 12:40 so Julian could come see it. I hope that scores me brownie points towards both of their pictures.
Towards the end of the evening I decided to do a little island hopping. My island had the blue aloha shirt, so I finally bought that for Yumi to catalog. Then I decided to hop around on club tortimer for a little bit to see if I could find any of the items I’m missing. After the third island I landed on one with a ukulele. I bought two of them, so I have an extra to trade for…something.
Today, September 3, in Hanabi
Today I hosted Soleil. I don’t know why, since we’re already BFFs. I have her picture, but I still set my alarm so she could come over.
We had a camper in Hanabi, a cute purple Koala named Sydney.
Julian wanted fruit, so I ran over to Kasen to get him a perfect peach. In my experience animals love perfect fruit from other towns, I’m going to try to keep some on hand for emergency fruit requests.
I have been making some questionable fashion choices lately.
And that’s about all that’s new in Hanabi. It wasn’t short at all.
Weeding Day in Japan
Today (or yesterday really, since they’re a day ahead) is weeding day in Japanese towns. I would have invited people over to participate in Kasen’s weeding day, but I have perfect town and I was betting on being weed-free today. Indeed I was and I unlocked the three weeding day topiaries (now that I don’t know what to do with them since I have so many public works there…). Unfortunately I was unable to get screenshots of the topiaries because Shizu-chan (aka Isabelle) insists it’s a holiday.
We (US) players don’t get weeding day until the last Friday in April, so it’s a long wait until I get those topiaries in Hanabi. I love them. I think they’re adorable, but I haven’t set aside spots for any of them.
Having had a spot set aside for the Circle Topiary since I got the game and an idea in mind since November, the wait is so torturous for me T~T ONE DAY TOPIARIES…
@Jen I’m just annoyed that you have to get topiaries *or* pull weeds for cool furniture. I feel like that’s a cruel choice to have to make! I don’t want to let my town fall into wrack and ruin to get weeding day. 🙁 Although that’s precisely what I’m doing over in Quantico. It looks like hell over there.
