Drunk on my new power (or overpowered G-rank armor as the case may be) I have forged ahead in Monster Hunter 3G. Today I dutifully completed the ★★★★★★★★★ village quests. It says clear and everything (though clear is suspiciously a different color than other clears…). Unfortunately nothing unlocked. カヤンバ is still stuck with his 残念なお面 and I’m not sure why. I have a sneaking suspicion that in order to unlock everything I have to finish the ★★★★★★★ ジェン・モーラン quest. The only other quests I haven’t done are ★★★★★★★★ ハプルボッカ, and a trio of アグナコトル, , and リオレウス.

I’m hoping that maybe it’s the Hapurubokka that I need to do to progress, but somewhere deep down I know it’s Jhen. And I hate that fight. I’ve never even tried it on my own. And when I do it with other people I never take the tie downs. I occasionally ring the gong, but that’s the extent of my defensive work. So tonight I’ll mentally prepare myself for the fact that I probably have to kill him. Watch a few youtube videos on how to kill him (even though I know how, I’m just not good at defending the damn ship). Then I’ll kill Hapurubokka and the fire trio I missed. Maybe, if I’m lucky, something will unlock. If not, wish me luck fighting Jhen Mohran.

Just a quick note to say that the Monster Hunter 3G meetup was a fun success! Casey and I were both able to complete our urgent quest hunting the Ceadeus subspecies thanks to our new friend. So now we’re both hunter rank 6 and have unlocked G rank (the highest) quests. 怖いね.

I hope that we can find more people and that we can hunt more often, but due to social obligations we won’t be able to meet up again for at least two more weeks. So that means—back to pokémon. I doubt I’ll get to update tonight, but I’ll try for some more game coverage tomorrow.
