I’ve been surviving the summer heat by wearing sleeveless dresses, a wide-brimmed hat, and visiting Quantico which i haven’t played since…April…so it’s still April there. Ahhhh a bit nippy.
My residents tell me different ways they beat the heat. I’m surprised Aurora isn’t just diving in the ponds, but she cools off a little differently.
Tia gave me a shirt to beat the heat, but…
We’ve had a lot of short showers followed by gorgeous rainbows. This one makes it almost look like I like Elvis and his house:
The fireworks festivals start up this Sunday. I’m thinking of opening, but being on the west coast (GMT -8) I don’t think many people will be awake to come see them. Hanabi means fireworks in Japanese, and Hanabi’s town flag is fireworks, so I’m excited about them. Maybe this year I’ll have to try and come up with some custom fireworks for the display.
Today was Grizzly’s birthday. I bought a tan puffy vest for him and brought it to his house. Who had arrived before me? Elvis of course.
Grizzly was none too subtle about receiving his birthday gift. That’s ok, he can be pushy on his birthday.
I handed him his gift and he tore the wrapping off.
I wondered if he’d put it on (you know, since Elvis refuses to wear the shirt I gave him) but he changed then and there and danced around sweating in his puffy vest looking half-silly and half-awesome.
After the party I talked to all the birthday-boycotting villagers and Flurry dropped a bomb:
This was news to me, because when I talked to Octavian not five minutes earlier all he would talk about is pancakes. Senile octopus.
I did what any mayor who’s recently lost not 1 (Pashmina) but 2 (Drago) beloved villagers would do, I ran around catching bugs for 10 or 15 minutes.
Finally on one of my passes looking for Cicadas Octavian stopped me:
I told him in no uncertain terms that he was not leaving (at least not until or unless I get rid of Grizzly, Aurora, or Elvis). And that’s what’s new in Hanabi on this last day of July.
