Animal Crossing New Leaf: Days 131-134

Stalk Market

I have missed checking my stalk prices too many times this week to even post prices. Suffice it to say the market is on a downward slide and I’m about to eat my shirt. Help! Prices started in the 80s this week and are now at 60 something.

Off topic ramblings

If you read this blog with any regularity, then you know that I’m on “vacation” this week. I put it in quotes because my husband is working a trade show in Salt Lake City this weekend and I’m just along for the ride. I like to think of this trip as a test before going to Japan on April 2nd.

I haven’t been anywhere on an airplane in the last two years. In the last 3 or 4 years I’ve somehow developed a fear of flying that’s going to make getting to Japan…challenging at best. As it was I was so terrified on my plane flight from San Francisco to Vegas and then from Vegas to Salt Lake (gah! taking off and landing twice just added insult to injury in my fear department) that I could barely read, let alone play animal crossing or let go of my husband’s hand.

But I’ve at least learned a few things about packing for the Japan trip I intend not to check luggage (because we’re going to be traveling around by train so much i need to be able to easily carry my luggage) so I bought a large backpack style carry-on bag. The first thing I learned:. I’m not taking my macbook pro to Japan. I brought it here and dear god it’s heavy. So, if this post looks in any way sketchy it’s because I’m pecking it out on the iPad mini that will go to Japan in the laptop’s stead. I intend to bring a keyboard with me, but I don’t have it here.

Otherwise I think I did pretty well with my packing. When I arrived I thought I had been foolish bringing my heavy coat and gloves because it was 59 degrees. Then it snowed today and as I wandered around downtown Salt Lake I felt vindicated and warm.

Anyone have any tips on dealing with fear of flying? And yes I’m well aware that it’s completely irrational. Doesn’t mean I don’t want to throw up at the slightest hint of turbulence (from nerves, not motion sickness).

On with AC related rambling.

Day 131

Today was test day, so I played in the morning at which point turnips were selling for 85 bells. In the evening I logged on Taiga and forgot to check turnip prices. Inochi gave me a petition to get signed, but I completely forgot about it dashing his confidence in my mayoral abilities. I had no special visitors (thankfully. I didn’t have time for them!)

Lillian was unbearably cute as usual.

Day 132

Flight day. I could have played. But I didn’t. I did read animal crossing comics if that counts for anything.

Redd’s Gallery

Redd was in town today. I made my husband stuff a guide in the luggage he was checking, but I left it in the hotel while we were at a friend’s house and I needed to figure out what was fake or not before he closed up shop. I had to look around on the internet using my phone. I found the link to the counterfeit page I normally use only to find out it’s not there anymore… I finally managed to figure out what was and wasn’t legit, but only barely—and it should have been glaringly obvious to me—the legitimate one anyway.

Birth of Venus is a fake. The shell is pointing the wrong way.

Um. I forget if this one is fake or not. :P All I know is that I already have it and I wasn't going to buy it again.

New townie!

Remember the camper cat from the other day? She’s moving in. I wish someone would move into Margie’s old spot instead of putting their house in my orchard, but oh well. Maybe I can squeeze a fourth human resident up there…

Obligatory Lillian Picture

Her umbrella is adorable. I was delivering a package from Moe. For some reason he thought Lillian would be mad at him if he delivered it in person. How could such a cute bunny be intimidating?

Day 133

Finally I got to chill. No test stress (although I did reload the webpage to check the scores incessantly). Plane flights done for a week at least. I got to hang out with my BFF (no, not my husband). We sang karaoke loudly with the Japanese Wii U till midnight. It was an awesome day.

I wish my turnip prices were awesome too. They weren’t. 70 Bells in the morning, 67 in the evening.

New Townie

Felicity showed up today. That brings the village’s cat count to 3. That’s a lot of cats, but I don’t think it’s quite at crazy cat village status.

Meet Felicity (みかっち). I like her rustic wallpaper and floor.

Spotlight Item

I noticed an announcement on the bulletin board. It was for a spotlight item. Unfortunately it’s for a spotlight item I’ve already acquired.

Artsy Stuff

I chose well with the Nike statue and it stands proudly in the art wing of the museum.

I donated the Nike statue to the museum.

Oddly, Iris decided to try and sell me a painting. I didn’t want to disappoint her, so I bought it. I didn’t think it would be legitimate and I forgot to take it to Blathers and get it appraised.

Iris sold me a painting. I wonder where she got it.

Day 134

Oh, btw I passed my test. I loaded up the scores page at 7:30 this morning after rolling out of bed and found they were finally posted. I got a 90.6, which kind of bums me out because the lowest score I got until this score was a 96 (before that I got two 100% and three 99%) and I didn’t have the highest score in the class (which I have in every class until this one). Overachiever much? I’m sure I screwed up the listening. I don’t get enough practice with listening and on several of them I was completely clueless. Kokuto (my husband) also passed with an 87.9.

The turnip prices, they are sliding slowly down. 63 bells this morning.

Random Remake for you

I got the last piece I needed to miniaturize my iguanodon. That should be the last mini I needed to complete my collection. They barely fit in the room I rented in the museum. After I order enough cases to house them I will take pictures of the room.

This was the very last mini dino I needed to complete my collection. It's an iguanodon.

Felicity

Her integration into Kasen village life seems to be going smoothly. She’s very chipper. I caught her inside later in the day. Her house is so cute!

"Good Morning! Good Morning! Good Morning!" Felicity will fit right in.

Shopping

I had another spotlight item today. This one I didn’t have yet, so I snatched it up. The spotlight item is the retro radio.

I also bought the K.K. Slider album. It has the creepiest artwork yet.

The Museum

I almost sold off the painting that Iris sold me, but I decided to give it to Blathers first. It turned out to be an original.

DLC Alert

I finally finagled the wifi in the hotel room to work with the 3DS. Pete showed up shortly after that with a delivery from Nintendo. The letter contained the Campus rug which is much more exciting than the accompanying wallpaper. I took an aerial shot of my cluttered mish mash room.

Gracie Grace

I wanted to not bring a guidebook with me (those things are huge!), and the only thing I really feel like I need it for is fashion evaluations. I’m glad I made my husband stuff it in his suitcase because sure enough Gracie sauntered into town.

I knew there was a reason I wanted to bring the guide with me!

I knew there was a reason I wanted to bring the guide with me!

He wanted to see a traditional outfit. I didn’t struggle with this fashion assignment too much. There was only one pair of traditional socks/tights and they were a bit garish but I put them on anyway. I didn’t feel like searching for outfits, so I just looked for traditional dresses and decided to do my Pocahontas impression. They don’t have moccasins though, but it didn’t matter too much since I was wearing hideous argyle tights. I opted out of an accessory because about the only thing traditional was a pair of glasses and that just didn’t have the right vibe. 😛

That was my fourth successful evaluation. (It took 3 months for me to see Gracie Grace 4 times.) I’m hoping that in the near future my Nook Brother’s Home Center will upgrade to Nookington’s. I’m too lazy right now to look up the exact requirements, but I’m fairly certain they’ve all been met. Fingers crossed that tomorrow we have a “remodeling” message on the bulletin board.

Tomorrow is also Taiga’s birthday, so I hope that goes a little better than Ryuuji’s.

All right. I’m out. またね!

Animal Crossing New Leaf: Days 114 & 115

Stalk Market

Friday: Day 114

AM: 91 Bells
PM: 114 Bells

Saturday: Day 115

AM: 96 Bells
PM: 107 Bells

Fortunately Neko had a reasonable surge in her stock prices on Thursday evening so I sold my shares for 153 bells apiece. Not a huge profit, but still a profit. Better luck next week.

Day 114

The big news is it’s pretty much officially spring—in New Leaf anyway. The calendar has tumbled over into March and there are butterflies flitting about and new fish to catch.

Holiday Coming Up

March 3 is the Doll Festival: ひな祭り. To celebrate Nook’s has the doll set for sale as a seasonal item between March 1-3. He also sells a paper-covered lamp (look close at the doll set, they’re on the top shelf). I bought the lamp too, but forgot to snap a picture of it.

If you look closely at the top two dolls on the set you may notice their distinctive hairstyles. Those two dolls are the Emperor and Empress. Labelle sells each of their wigs as seasonal items from March 1-3. I’ve only had the Emperor’s wig so far.

Saharah’s Design (flaws)

Saharah was roaming today. I still haven’t put my furniture back in since her last visit, so I switched wallaper and threw done some random items to influence her design choice.

The bulletin board is advertising tomorrow’s festival. I don’t think there’s too much to it, but I know Shizu-chan will be there in a kimono and there will be cardboard cutouts. Now I just have to get Kokuto to come over for picture taking. 😉

Gracie Grace!

I did not expect to see him standing in my town square. And me looking…frightful.

Even though I look like a train wreck I talked to Gracie to find out what my challenge was.

Even though I look like a train wreck I talked to Gracie to find out what my challenge was.

He wanted me to throw together a gorgeous outfit. There aren’t too many gorgeous items. A lot of them—including the only gorgeous pair of shoes—are Gracie items. I did pretty well. Even though Kokuto laughed at my outfit and called me a dwarven princess because of my beard…The king’s beard is the only gorgeous accessory I could find. I don’t even know if accessories count, but better safe than sorry. I had a choice of 3 gorgeous tights: the fishnets, rainbow or wine-red tights. I picked the latter because the color is considered “red” and while I’m not sure if Gracie cares whether my colors match, once again I err on the side of caution.

The only thing that wasn’t gorgeous in my outfit were the shoes. They were “fancy”. It was the best I could do.

Sooooo maybe my fancy shoes weren’t horrible. I sighed in relief when he said I passed. And then—he gave me a princess bed. Eeee! my favorite set. I hope he comes back one more time soon and then opens up shop so I can buy the princess set.
