Disney Magical World : Secret Wands

There was one sticker in my Japanese copy of Disney Magical World (besides growing the legendary sunflower) that gave me fits: the secret wand sticker. As you progress through the magical dungeon you occasionally find recipes for wands in small chests. These wand recipes have vague names such as red secret wand recipe or blue secret wand recipe. When you turn them in to Yen Sid the name changes and you’ll find that you have a recipe for a Mickey Star Wand, or Donald Star wand etc.

The Donald Star Wand

The Donald Star Wand

All of these secret wands require a medal, such as the Donald Star Medal above, that is difficult to obtain. If you view the recipe the only thing the Medal says about its location is “Café”. That’s not very helpful. For the longest time I thought you just needed to hold a party a bunch of times with 8 combos and eventually the character would give you the medal. That’s only half right.

Let’s say you covet that Donald Star Wand. Here’s how you go about getting the medal for it. First off you are going to need 8 combos in your café. But not just any 8 combos. You need secret combos. As you progress through the game you may notice that you have two choices for Donald-themed wallpaper and floor. You can make the cheaper “Donald Wallpaper & Rug” or the hideously expensive “Marine Wallpaper & Rug”. I’m sorry to tell you that you need to purchase the hideously expensive set. Once you’re able to afford it and you decorate your café with it you’ll notice that to the right of the theme combo you’ll see explanation marks. Ta da! That’s a secret combo (if that’s your first secret combo, congratulations! You got a sticker!)

The gold circle with a ! means it's a secret combo

The gold circle with a ! means it’s a secret combo

If you notice, the secret combo I described above is not the one pictured, good! As you level the café up and gain more recipes you’ll eventually receive two recipes for a theme. The most expensive of the two recipes is a secret combo. You have to make the expensive version of all three dishes to get the combo. In my Japanese game I tried for ages to get the wand just by having the secret food combo and not the secret furniture combo. I think you need both. Maybe I was just unlucky.

My rule of thumb for getting the medal for secret wands: if it has a more expensive version, buy it and put it in your café.

So, you’ve got expensive food and decor, now what? After you’ve gotten 8 combos with a couple of secret combos hold a party. When the character you want the medal from shows up with an exclamation point over their head, then you’ve got your medal! I should probably mention that you should make sure you have enough items to make the expensive food 3-4 times. And enough food to make whatever’s popular that day so you can raise your party bar quickly and try again with the theme of your choice. I got the Donald Medal with the second party I hosted. I got the Minnie Medal the first time I used both secret combos on my JP game, but I held a lot of parties before I wised up and changed the wallpaper.

This is what you're hoping to see.

This is what you’re hoping to see.

I got a sticker! I hope now you can too! :)

Secret wands are fairly easy to get once you know what “Café” means, they just require a lot of money and a bit of farming. I want to get the Mickey Wand next. But I’ve found that I don’t have enough items to set on tables for the 8 combos. That’s a conundrum.

Good luck Medal hunting!

Disney Magical World: Birthstone Bubbles

Sticker #87

Sticker #87

I finally got all of the birthstone bubbles in Disney Magical World, but not without a bit of investigation. I was missing one for the longest time, but I didn’t know exactly which one or where to get it. Turns out it was the Sapphire bubbles. Now if only I could catch a really really big fish my fishing stickers would be complete!

Here is a list of all of the birthstone bubbles and where to get them. Happy Fishing!

Month Birthstone Bubble Location
January Garnet Bubbles Aladdin’s World (Well-made Rod)
February Amethyst Bubbles Cinderella’s World (Proper Rod)
March Aquamarine Bubbles Alice’s World (Well-made Rod)
April Diamond Bubbles Cinderella’s World
May Emerald Bubbles Alice’s World
June Pearl Bubbles 100 Acre Wood

Disney Magical World: Growing Hybrids

legendarysunflowerDid you know that some plants yield hybrid seeds in Disney Magical World? It’s not quite like in Animal Crossing where you have to put different plants next to each other to get different colors. In Disney Magical World certain plants can yield seeds for different plants. There’s no trick to it, it’s just a matter of luck. So if you can’t find an ingredient you’re looking for, maybe you have to grow it.

Hybrid Producing Plants

  • Creamy Chestnut Seed → Xtra-Creamy Chestnut Seed
  • Yellow Citrus Seed → Orange Citrus Seed
  • Barley Seed → Premium Barley Seed*
  • Butterynut Seed → Golden Butterynut Seed
  • Grace Lily Seed → Moonbeam Lily Seed
  • White Cocoaberry Seed → Mixed Cocoaberry Seed
  • Milkberry Seed → Crown Milkberry Seed → Royal Milkberry Seed
  • Sweetberry Seed → Premium Sweetberry Seed
  • Four-Leaf Clover Seed → Colorful Clover Seed*
  • Honey Carrot Seed → Spooky Carrot Seed
  • Big Turnip Seed → Mysterious Golden Seed*
  • Ruby Red Rose Seed → Bright White Rose Seed → Jet-Black Rose Seed → Royal Rose Seed* → Mysterious Flower Seed*

*Names may be incorrect. Translated from the Japanese game. Will change when I actually get them in my English game.

Disney Magical World: 52 Stickers

The last few days have been crazy, seeing the release of the game and miiverse coming online for it. If you want to see what I’m up to on miiverse you can follow my US account: VellaNouri. I’m not quite sure what to post as a spoiler in the game because you can easily look at the stickers and see what you need to do to get them (for most of them), so I hope I’m not spoiling much for people.

I’ve got 2 1/2 days to account for so, bear with me.

Thursday Night’s Activities

Most of this happened before Miiverse went live, so picture quality…sucks. I never claimed to be good at manual screenshots.

Evening Favors

  • Resident 1
give 2 Polka Dot Tulip ・ receive 1 Pink Ribbon Tape
  • Dale
give 3 Beefy Acorns ・ receive 3 Buttery Nut Seeds
  • Resident 2
give 1 Dewdrop Iris ・ receive 2 Premium Sweetberry Seeds
  • Pluto
give 1 Bony Crystal ・ receive 1 Pink Ribbon Tape
  • Resident 3
give 2 Poppin’ Corn ・ receive 1 Quest Oar

After giving Dale his favorite snack (I think he may be related to Barold) he wanted to take a picture with me.

I usually let my favors dictate how I play the game, but the only one I really had to work for was the Dewdrop Iris.

It turns out that 42 stickers unlocked a chest in Miss Teri’s shop (you know, the sparkles lady). I somehow missed this on my Japanese game. I mean, I unlocked it, but I must have not understood it and thus never utilized it—at 42 stickers you unlock luck charms. So you can influence how powerful you are during quests, fishing, gathering, all sorts of useful things. Wish I had known…

After that I got a few stickers by accident (like you do). I needed to create a card outfit to progress further in Alice’s world. I made it and tried it on:

Then I checked in on my café. I feel like I have too much stuff to remember to do: Did I check the café? Did I check the field? What about the shops? Ahhhhhhhh! Ahem. In order to level up the café I needed to make a trendy dish. Easy Peasy. I did and went from Level 8 to Level 9 Veteran. The next café request was to make a rare dish. So after my current selection sells out…rare dish time!

I did a few episodes in Alice’s World and then remember to check on my crops. and—

I unlocked a more furniture to craft. Not that I have money to make it…

Right about this time the game released. DLC came online. I caved and bought it all even though I already have it on my JP game…I leveled up my café, with a rare dish and called it a night.

Friday’s Adventure

The game was out and I was loving saving pictures to miiverse instead of trying to take pictures with my phone that didn’t suck (not possible).

Morning Favors

  • Minnie Mouse
give 1 Rosy Bubbles ・ receive 3 Pink Ribbon Tape
  • Resident 1
give 1 Exotic Coffee ・ receive 3 Crown Milkberry Seeds
  • Donald Duck
give 3 Amethyst Bubbles ・ receive 1 Well-Made Rod Recipe
  • Dale
give 3 Beefy Acorn ・ receive 3 Buttery Nut Seeds
  • Resident 2
give 3 Soap Bubbles ・ receive 2 Snow Crystals

Today I was overjoyed that I had a favor from Donald that would earn me a new fishing rod.
donaldrod

I was up to his challenge. It took me a while of fishing in Cinderella’s world before I got him the 3 amethyst bubbles he required, but I finally did it. I got the recipe, turned it in to Chip and Dale and realized something very bad. I couldn’t make it. I needed the superstar belt. You may remember the superstar belt as a reward from Mickey over the last few days for favors I was too lazy to complete. Nooooooo!

Well-Made Rod ingredients

Well-Made Rod ingredients

I figured Mickey would show up in the evening with a favor and I could make the rod. I’m still waiting for him to need a favor. Please. Please need a favor Mickey!

So I did what any Café owner in Castleton would do. I decided to spend my time working on my café and not let the heartbreak of not being able to craft a new fishing rod affect me. The next request to level up my café was to have a Winnie the Pooh party. Surely that would make me feel better.

Little known fact: Carrot cake is my favorite. When I was little I had to have 2 cakes at my birthday party because none of my friends would eat it.

Only Pooh showed up to the party.

Only Pooh showed up to the party.

After the party I checked to see what the next café request was: “Create at least 10 different snacks.” After a quick count I realized if I made a new snack this time it would be my tenth. So I did and leveled my café from 11 to 12. I checked the next request: “I want the helper to match what I’m wearing.” I had the manager in the cool Winnie the Pooh outfit (leftover from the Pooh party) so I scampered off to see if I could make another of the same outfit. I could! And did. I tried the outfit on before giving it to the employee (that’s not weird, right?) and…

The café leveled from level 12 Esteemed to level 13 Esteemed. And here I’m stuck.

My next key request is to “invite either Snow White or the Dwarfs to a Snow White-themed party with a café combo of at least 2!” The problem is all of the Snow White items require things I don’t have—most of which have to be received from favors. I know I can get them once I unlock the secret dungeon (the one the guard is standing in front of that requires 60 stickers) but that’s going to be a while. So, my café leveling is at a standstill.

Evening Favors

  • Resident 1
give 1 Pearl Bubbles ・ receive 1 UFO Remnants
  • Resident 2
give 1 Caravan Cloth ・ receive 1 Handkerchief of Bravery
  • Resident 3
give 3 Pearl Bubbles ・ receive 1 Colorful Egg: Jagged (Easter Item)
  • Genie
give 1 Traveler’s Cloth ・ receive 1 Arabian Hat Yellow
  • Scrooge McDuck
give 1 Sapphire Bubbles ・ receive 1 Cloudpuff Plate

I had to fish for more Pearl Bubbles which wasn’t a problem, but upon further investigation I realized the Sapphire Bubbles required the Well-made rod that I can’t make and that the game was trolling me.

I’ve been ignoring Agrabah a bit. I haven’t needed much from there. It’s probably my least favorite area. I’m not even sure if I’ve seen Aladdin so I don’t have much attachment to it. Maybe I should watch the movie and I’ll like it better? I went over and did a couple quests. I fished out a new fish there and:

Despite the fact that I can’t level my café up for a little while I’m not ignoring it. It generates money for me, so I have been making as much new and trendy food as I can and I was rewarded with:

I spent the rest of the evening in the 100 Acre Wood aka “my happy place” where I played two rounds of hide and seek, gardened, made a few pieces of furniture and got Eeyore his favorite food. Of course just doing this earned me a few stickers.

I was going to write about today’s adventures too, but we’ll leave those for tomorrow. I have things to get for Mickey, though sadly he’s not offering the superstar belt as a reward.

Disney Magical World: 41 Stickers

Well, I didn’t make it back last night to do a last round of favors. We’ll see if I do tonight. Once again all of them were pretty easy except Mickey Mouse. He’s trying to make a football and I can never seem to find the ingredient he wants. I went through an episode in Cinderella’s World that was supposed to have it three times before giving up.

Morning Favors

  • Mickey Mouse
give 3 Slippery Bark ・ receive 1 Superstar Belt (this isn’t clothes it’s used to make character specific furniture and clothes)
  • Dale
give 1 Slippery Bark ・ receive 2 Snow Crystals (I had 2 slippery bark so I completed this one)
  • Resident 1
give 1 Fluffy Dandelion ・ receive 5 Milkberry Seed
  • Resident 2
give 1 Golden Honey ・ receive Spring Candiflower Recipe (Easter recipe)
  • Resident 3
give 1 Pearl Bubbles ・ receive 1 UFO Remnants

Today’s Adventure

I had Mickey on the brain because of that favor. I decided to see what Mickey furniture I could make because my café’s party meter was full, and my next café request was to serve 3 types of Mickey-themed dishes. I figured I may as well hold a Mickey party. I made everything Mickey-related that I could. I couldn’t make the counter, sadly. And after my building spree (as I watched my funds slowly dwindle)—

I got a sticker!

I also went over to Daisy’s boutique and made an outfit for the staff member in the café since I only had 1 Mickey-themed outfit. No sticker for that though.

My semi-Mickey-themed café

After I made the 3 Mickey recipes my café leveled up from Level 7 Certified to Level 8 Veteran. I don’t know if I’m a veteran café owner, but with every level I serve 5 more dishes at a time which means more income, so I’ll take it!

With the dishes out I opened up the party and Mickey arrived!

Hi Mickey!

Hi Mickey!

I greeted him and got his card. We chatted a bit.

Then we took a picture together and I closed the party.

I hope Minnie doesn't get mad about my poor impersonation.

I took note as I closed the party this time. For 4 combos I got 18,000 coins, plus the money for all of the dishes that sold out. And then—

Sticker #40

The 40th sticker unlocked new clothes at the boutique and new furniture at Chip and Dale’s. I can make Peter Pan-themed items now! Well, I could if I had their materials…

Leveling up the café added food trends. I can now check to see what food is popular and if I serve that it will sell out faster and the party meter will rise faster as well. Today’s food trend is Daisy Duck. I could only make two of her recipes, so I whipped those up before going out and pursuing Mickey’s favor.

I was looking for Slippery Bark in Cinderella’s World. There were two or three different areas where I could gather it. I wish I knew which area had a higher chance of yielding it. I ran through the areas a few times without success. Then I got sidetracked…like I do.

One of the newer episodes I unlocked was attending Cinderella’s Ball. That episode is actually a little rhythm game and does not involve killing ghosts. I decided to give it a go. My fairy godmother showed up and with a “Salagadoola mechika boola Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo!” got me all gussied up for the ball.

I arrived in my pumpkin coach and met Cinderella and Prince Charming. Then I got to dancing. I didn’t do perfectly , but I had no misses and took the ball by storm.
