Animal Crossing New Leaf US: Seeing Spots

I’m back on the turnip bandwagon with the hopes of slowly making my way toward the gold turnip trading badge. I didn’t buy a ton of them yesterday, but I bought a few at 92 bells apiece. I’m hoping this downward trend doesn’t continue.

New PWP in Hanabi!

There won’t be many PWPs from here on out since we’re full, but the bridge replacement I was able to do since Sheldon moved was a success.

I’m still hoping that someday Rooney or Octavian suggests a zen clock so I can replace the tiki torch we have, but I’m not holding my breath.

Winter Sports

I’m still on my snowboy rolling kick. The other day I kept making them almost perfect and it took me three tries to get him right. Resetti gave me an earful.

I get all of it. I’m just over it.

Eventually we had a flock of perfect snowboys. I stood with them and chanted “one of us. one of us.” It seemed appropriate.

I think I have four more items from the snowman set to get, so I’ll be rolling them most of the week.

RL ACNL Goods

Saturday my husband and I went to J-Town in San Francisco. I ended up at Kinokuniya, my favorite Japanese book store (even though it’s really rather expensive) and found a new New Leaf book. It was sealed, so I wasn’t sure exactly what it was, but I knew it had a desk calendar in it and it was cute, so I bought it. It turned out to be a schedule book. Each day has room to note turnip prices, lucky item and villager requests. Each day also has a villager’s picture if it’s their birthday and shows if there is an event that day such as the upcoming fishing tourney on the 18th.

In the back there’s an item checklist, a list of all the villagers with their likes and dislikes coffee preference etc. There’s a ton of info in the little schedule book. The catch? Well, it’s all in Japanese of course. Why don’t we get cute books like this in the US?

I’m horrible with keeping a schedule book, but I’m trying to keep track of my turnip prices and write down a little bit about my capers and who wants what. We’ll see if I can keep it up. I’ve also been getting my lucky item fortune for the day which is turning out to be weird.

Yesterday in Hanabi

Rooney sold me a Serene painting. I held my breath because it’s the last painting I need to complete Kasen’s museum. (The Quaint Painting was real!!) Unfortunately the serene painting was a fake. Shame on you for getting my hopes up Rooney! See if I don’t kick you out next!

I see where this is going…

I got a barbel steed for Tia, visited Julian and bought his lovely lamp. And then had a bit of a trading/cataloging party with friends I’ve been meaning to catch up with for a while. Thank you MerryNoel, Euphy, and Rachael!

And then in the evening I money laundered my way up to 50 million bells. Sadly Yumi is 30 million bells poorer now, but sacrifices must be made.

Today in Hanabi

We have Saharah. I haven’t requested her services yet. Not sure if I’ll take advantage of her redecorating or not.

Tia is dreaming about my friends. 😉

I made another perfect snowboy. Fortunately on one try this time. I hate hunting for snowballs multiple times.

I went to the island and did a couple of tours. I’m working my way towards 5,000 medals for the gold badge 15 medals at a time. I usually only have the patience for 3-4 runs of a tour, so it’s going to be a loooong time.

I’m also eagerly awaiting 5pm so I can go over and catalog all of the items Yumi has ordered and then have Yumi order more stuff for tomorrow. I finished hats, and should be done with dresses today and then either have Yumi order shirts (not looking forward to that) or carpets and wallpapers which should be easier.

And that’s about it for now. I’m off to the dentist Wednesday (doesn’t it seem like I’m always there? This should be my last appointment for a while. Finally getting my permanent crown.) but I’ll try to blog before my appointment.

Animal Crossing New Leaf US: Definition of Perfection

I think my week off from blogging about Hanabi could be summed up quite easily: It snowed. I swear it snowed pretty much every day with brief intervals of heavy clouds and then more snow. I didn’t do too much last week, but here are the highlights.

Jingle of Course

Jingle’s first visit to Hanabi was a resounding success, but only because I saved and continued before delivering a couple presents. I thought I had enough info, but it turns out I didn’t. I didn’t know what color a couple things were, like the mini lamp. I thought it might have been white, but it’s gray, so I got Julian’s initial delivery wrong. Eep! And figuring out the color of the two wallpaper I had in my bag wasn’t easy either. In the end everyone got what they wanted. Jingle gave me a wreath and then sent me his picture in the mail.

I started a picture room in the museum. I’m running out of room for them in my house.

Snow-person building

I built my last hideous Frankenstein-like snow family where everyone except snowtyke was horribly misshapen. As a reward I got a sleigh. Now I’m on to building exquisite snowboys for the snowman set.

I had Saharah

I don’t know what look she’s going for.

I needed a lot of Saharah originals for Vella’s catalog so I let her remake the room…much to my dismay. Instead I took Vella over to Kasen yesterday and she cataloged all of Taiga’s Saharah set. Much easier.

I had Redd

I had Redd on Thursday last week, and he’s in town today. I didn’t need either of the paintings I bought. Last weeks was the neutral painting and this week’s is the wistful painting (Girl with a Pearl Earring)

I Managed to Unload My Turnips

Kasen had decent prices. I think 211? I didn’t wait to see if they would spike higher, I just sold. I was hoping maybe that would get me the gold turnip badge, but ever since I sold there hasn’t been a clear day in town, so no Phineas.

This week I only bought 900 turnips because I was feeling lazy.

Kadomatsu

I wasn’t expecting a delivery from Nintendo. They sent out Kadomatsu which are traditional Japanese New Year’s decorations. Seems a little weird sending it to the English games when no one knows what they are, but I was happy to get it and let Yumi catalog it anyway.

Sheldon Decided to Move

And I said “Go for It!” If only he had decided to leave sooner though because I had the most awesome camper that day.

He’s still up for grabs if anyone wants him.

I’m just gonna stick you in my closet and you can move in on the 2nd ok? OMG you’re so cute!

He does this to me every day. He sighs and then tells me about his moving out. It’s taking all my willpower to make him go.

You’re not nearly as cute. Can I have the hamster back?

OMG stop making me feel guilty. You wanted to move!

å¤§æ™¦æ—¥ (oh-me-so-ka) New Year’s Eve!

Tomorrow is the New Year’s Eve countdown. I’ll be opening up Kasen (my Japanese town) from 10am-noon PST (GMT-8) so you can grab some Year-End Noodles. If you can’t make it at that time but you can later on in the day let me know and I might open up again in the afternoon. I’ll leave out the Sagittarius Bow and the Capricorn Ornament to catalog. I don’t know if European ACNL players got the Kadomatsu? I’ll try and put that out as well. And now I’ve got to go do some å¤§æŽƒé™¤ (oh-soh-ji) big cleaning in Kasen so the town is up to snuff for visitors. 🙂

No More Documentaries

Wednesday night I logged on to see if I could prod some of my more stubborn neighbors into revealing what they want for toy day. I past Julian and he happened to mention on a whim that he wanted to get his petition for “No More Documentaries” signed. I figured it would be a worthy cause and so I shuffled off to Kasen to enlist supporters.

Everyone was ready to lend a signature to end boring documentaries forever. I had a full roster in no time.

I went back and handed it over. I couldn’t believe it when Julian gave me…his…picture!!!!

I felt bad for Saharah’s endless wandering around the village so I paid her to ruin my house.

Today in Hanabi

Nothing much was going on. Tomorrow is the solstice. Glow wands on standby! I’m working on an imperfect snow family right now, so I have a perfect snowman because I needed a new bingo card, and today I rolled an angry snowmam. Tomorrow will be a messed up snowboy followed by a perfect snowtyke. With a little luck he’ll give me the little igloo.

Public Service Announcement

I’ll most likely be posting on Monday. But since Christmas is on Wednesday and I’m making an impromptu trip down to LA on Christmas morning (it was supposed to be a surprise, but I just told my mom I’m coming cause I can’t keep a secret), no posting Wednesday. I’ll most likely resume on Friday to regale you with Jingle hi-jinx.

Also, The countdown is coming up very soon after that. I’ll be opening up Kasen so y’all can come get some ã¨ã—ã“ã—ãã° (New Year’s Noodles). I’ll tentatively be open December 31 from 10am-noon PST and again for an hour or two in the afternoon. If any of my non-US readers would like to come to Hanabi to get the sparkling cider I can open, but I’m seriously disappointed with the cider. It just looks like a bag when you set it in a room and makes me feel like a wino. If I get enough people who want it I can open Hanabi as well, but I really don’t like having 2 towns open at once. I’m a bad hostess when that happens.

I would *love* to visit different regions for a berliner (German), 12 grape-plate (Spanish language games?) or a bell knickknack (Korean). If you have one of those regions and would like to cross-visit (or just bring me a tasty treat) comment with your friend code and we can set up a time to meet.

Nintendo Dreams

I’m still dreaming a bit. I keep hoping I’ll get the badge, but since it’s been snowing Phineas wouldn’t be out anyway. I should really keep track of how many dream towns I go to…

I visited every Nintendo dream town that I know of. Already did the Japanese Nintendo town. So I went to EU, NA and (I hope it was because I can’t read Korean) the Korean one.

Animal Crossing New Leaf US: By “we” I mean me

Usual OT Ramblings

I’m going on “vacation” starting this Saturday to add insult to injury with my already stressed studying. I use the term vacation in quotes because I’ve defined the term to mean somewhere new, fun or that I generally want to go. In reality this was supposed to be a trip to the in-laws for Thanksgiving, but thanks to my stupid test date of the Sunday following Thanksgiving there isn’t enough time to actually stay for Thanksgiving and get back in time to take the testâ€¦so I deem it a failed trip already. Of course this could just be doom and gloom pre-test me talking.

All this is to say that starting next week updates could be sporadic, missing entirely, or desperate pleas for help.

I’m probably not getting back until the 25 or 26. Then I have my test. Then I have a month or more of moping to do as I wait for my results. Did I mention also that on the week prior to my test they’re putting a new roof on my condo? No studying at home during the day that week.

To my happy place!

New Leaf is often my happy place. Visitors or no. Exciting holidays or not. At least everyone is happy to see me when I show up even if they do want me to catch them bugs or be their interior decorator.

Bug catcher extraordinaire Vella is on it. Although I hope you like monarchs because that’s all I see around.

Octavian is making friends already! And he dances pretty well for having so many legs!

A little later Julian asked me to take Octavian a package. He wanted it delivered in strict secrecy. Unfortunately Sheldon was still hanging with Octavian. I delivered it anyway. No one seemed to care.

I’m not sure if that shirt really suits him. It’s so last month, but he seems happy so I told him it looks wonderful.

I had Saharah on Saturday as well. I only got Vella’s house done. It wasn’t the greatest job, but I’m not looking for anything in particular. I got a sidewalk out of the deal.

It’s a little brighter, but I don’t like it…

Sunday, bloody Sunday

Joan is messing with me. For weeks and weeks her prices have been over 100 bells a piece. This week when I’m worried about studying, packing, and cleaning before leaving on a trip and therefore don’t have time to dote on the stalk market she’s selling for 94 bells apiece in Hanabi and 91 in Kasen. Evil sow! Evil. I didn’t buy. I need to at some point cause I need to turn a profit for the gold badge, but it’s gonna have to wait until December.

That’s a lot of books

Tia wanted a petition signed for “Read 100 Books a Year”. I went over to Kasen to get it signed and had the most difficult time getting all 6 signatures. Everyone was hiding from me. Maybe they’re illiterate? I finally tracked down Lillian/Bunnie in the museum and forced her to support Tia’s cause. After all that all I got was a tall mini cactus. Boo!

Yup and I’m pointedly ignoring Yumi’s leftover stash of candy.

Ah Kitt, my bad penny, thanks for the help.

SLOPPY!!!

I get incredibly excited when I spot a piece of sloppy furniture in Re-Tail. Yesterday morning as I went to pick up a piece of gold furniture (it turned out to be my 6th or 7th gold clock) I noticed an odd looking lamp. It looked a little askew. A little messy. A little awesome! It was a sloppy lamp put up for sale by Felicity. (I love you even though you haven’t given me your picture!)

I haven’t had many sloppy pieces in any of my games. Most of my sloppy furniture was given to me by generous visitors. Thank you so much! I’ve started switching out the balloon furniture in the basement and putting in sloppy furniture. I’m not close to a full set. I put up the old wallpaper and floor since I don’t have either of the sloppy pieces. I still need:

I only have one townie in Kasen that has a piece of the sloppy furniture in his house, Kidd. He has the sloppy table. But I already have that and I don’t know if I sent him something of the same size if he might put it up for sale? I wish I knew how to get the rest of the set, but I haven’t found a good method. Anyone out there know something I don’t?

As for Today

I woke up sleepy Felicity.

I had a pretty cute camper.

I noticed that the fishing tourney is the day I leave on vacationâ€”which could be good as I’ll be stuck in the car for 6-8 hours but may be bad because for those 6-8 hours I’ll also have the cat stuck in the car too and she doesn’t travel well.

I dug up a rare mushroom! Cha ching! Those sell for a bundle.

I lost at hide and seek somehowâ€¦I found everyone but Shep. I don’t know where he was. I think he climbed up in a tree or something.

And that’s about it. I’m sundowning. Stupid time change makes me sleepy.

Animal Crossing New Leaf US: Tough Twinkles

Halloween!

Waiting impatiently for the start of Halloween festivities.

Finally night fell and the creepies (especially me) came out to terrorize the populace. I actually felt bad scaring my townies. Most of them cried. How can a holiday that makes you cry be good?

Initially I had trouble distinguishing Jack from my townies wearing yellow pumpkin heads, but as the night wore on I learned to flee from those lopsided grins. Did I mention that I was cursed on Halloween? On more than one occasion my townies caught up to me after tripping made me face plant.

The divided highway finally pays off.

I probably should have mentioned before the holiday was over that there was a handy chart detailing which masks scare which villagers over at thonky. While that was helpful for me, and I played in several shifts I never did get all of the lollipops from my 9 townies (wherefore art thou cute camper?!). Instead I plied Jack with regular candy after I ran out of lollipops and had a heck of a time getting all of the creepy set. In the end he never gave me a creepy stone, but I turned on Quantico and found I had one over there so I decided that I’d just steal that one. If you didn’t get all the creepy furniture I have a few extras mainly cauldrons, clocks, wallpaper. Comment and maybe we can trade.

Butâ€¦I gave you almost my entire stash trying to get creepy stuff. I keep having to scare Barold for more and I don't think his heart can take much more.

I also got all of the pumpkin heads. Jack’s helped me more easily tell the difference between his and the yellow pumpkin at a glance.

Wow even Jack has a soft side.

And Soleil proved that she doesn’t have a soft side. She’s not so much scared of the ghost as pissed off at it.

Holiday Aftermath

Since today is the first day of a new month, one would think I would have spent my time diving for the numerous (rare) crabs that have spawned in the sea. Or trying to catch the few new fish that have appeared, but no. You know how I said I wasn’t going to add an autumn-themed room? Well after downloading this month’s DLC I feel obligated.

I haven’t gotten very far with it. I’ve pretty much only gotten the chair and the maple umbrella so far. After scouring my drawers I found that neither Vella nor Locke has the autumn leaf (I forget the exact name) wallpaper or carpet, so I enlisted Saharah’s help hoping she would read my mind and give me one or both.

That wasn’t quite what I wanted.

Of course she didn’t give me either. I’ll have to grab them from Kasen.

The trees for some reason are yielding mushrooms, so I picked up each and every one I came across until I got:

Maybe I’ll mix mushrooms with my autumn room. We’ll see. In the meantime I started emptying out my summer room and giving most of its contents to Locke for safe keeping. And of course I got completely sidetracked with Locke and spent what seems like an eternity sorting and storing and working on a pirate room. Yaaaaarrrr. It’s not much yet.

Remember. the citrus will prevent scurvy.

I should probably also mention that you can buy the harvest series from the Nook Brothers’ store this month. Though I love purple, this set creeps me out because it looks like they butchered Franklin to make it.

If you are curious about the upcoming harvest festival, you can take a look at my post from Harvest Festival last year. You’ll have to provide ingredients for each of the four dinner courses. I still remember the trouble I had catching a scallop, so I’m going to make sure I have one stored away before the festival.
