Animal Crossing New Leaf JP: News from Kasen

OT Rambling

Well, I’m finally home, but it’s not quite as wonderful as I’d hoped to be out of the car and in my own place because they’ve started to replace the roof today and are pounding pounding pounding away right above my head. *shakes fist* I’ve been in the car since 6am and dealing with a screaming cat for 7 hours. All I wanted was to unwind a little. No such luck. Oh well.

News from Kasen

Just before I left for my trip Yuka decided she wanted to move. She had recently given Yumi her picture and I’ve never been that fond of her, so I told her to go and see the world. She packed up on the 17th.

Yuka preparing for her big move.

Yuka preparing for her big move.

My husband was worried he’d end up with Yuka because he’s had nine residents forever. Usually we ask one another before letting a townie move out because we trade townies a lot. He was ok with getting Yuka. He needn’t have worried. She ended up in Quantico. I thought Quantico was full, but apparently I can’t count.

I had no set villager in mind for Kasen and didn’t really expect much from campers because I’m kinda picky and seem to end up with gorillas or chickens. But on the 22nd I had a camper. I entered the tent hesitantly, afraid it would be a pig or a frog, but it was a bunny. A black bunny. With fangs! (I’m thinking Monty Python right now.)

"Oh! You live here?"

“Oh! You live here?”

He doesn’t really fit with the cute townies I normally like, but he has his own charm. In Japanese his name is アマミン (Amamin) and in English it’s Cole.

He was unusually easy to convince to move. I didn’t have to play any games. He told me had had an interesting dream the night before that he lived in Kasen and I said “why don’t you move here” and he accepted. I have four (human) residents in Kasen, so I can’t do the reset trick to find a good spot for new villagers. I was hoping he’d put his house where Yuka’s was or over in the southeast corner where Iris/Hazel’s house was. Of course he didn’t put it in either of those places, but plopped down right next to Kitt.

HNI_0039

Now I feel obligated to find some way to fix the path even though I’m hoping to get Kitt to move soon.

Cole didn’t move in until today, so he’s still in boxes. His house is dark, just like he is, but he’s got a cabana vibe going on inside. Seems contradictory to the little vampire bunny.

Other Kasen News

That’s all the exciting (to me) stuff that happened in Kasen. But I took a few pics of the museum rooms I made starring Gracie clothes. I made one room that has all 19 dresses, all 8 pairs of shoes, and 4 umbrellas. It has a couple hats and accessories for filler.

HNI_0041

Shoes, glorious shoes!

Shoes, glorious shoes!

HNI_0043

The other room was supposed to be my “where the wild things are” clothes room, but it didn’t turn out as well as I’d like. I put all of the animal print clothes together along with the zodiac animals. It needs some work. When I get a free moment I’ll think about what to do with it.

We need More Dancing Happening

Usual past few days in Hanabi. I visited O’Hare because he really wanted me to see the travesty that is his house. House sucks? Dancing helps. Test looming? ditto.

HNI_0077

The only thing dancing doesn’t help with? Snow.

HNI_0080

We haven’t seen any of the nasty white stuff in Hanabi yet, but over in Quantico yesterday where it was, due to temporal anomalies, November 30th, there were flurries. Nothing stuck, but the time to break out your ugly sweaters is fast approaching.

I know they’ve had sweater Sunday going on for quite a while. I’m hoping to create a few ugly beauties for my townies to wear around town. Since I suck at designing anything I’m starting with this sweater tutorial from Animal Crossing Apparel. I’ll keep you posted when I get something suitably hideous to talk about.

Mmmm Spicy Curry

I also had Gulliver yesterday. He was obviously trying to get to India, but I sent him astray again for the tasty chocolate coin souvenir. I sure hope all his traveling is for pleasure and he’s not delivering black market kidneys or something. Because if so, they’re a little late…

Rude Drop In

I like a good townie visit as much as the next mayor, but it seems like they always barge in when I’m trying to turn a room into a masterpiece and not when I’m just sitting around in my house (not that I ever just sit around in my house).

Rooney was the offending townie. He got the message that I was kind of in the middle of something and only rambled a little bit before handing me a washer/dryer and leaving. Apparently the mayor stink eye is effective.

HNI_0093

What was I working on? My sloppy, nasty, dirty basement/kitchen that no one in their right mind would want to eat in despite the cute kitchen items left over from Thanksgiving in Quantico. (I still need butter when Thanksgiving hits Hanabi)

The sloppy lamp provides very little light. I think we need higher wattage bulbs.

As you can see, it’s a work in progress and the bottom half of it is still covered with balloons. I’m not in a rush to finish it mostly because I don’t have the furniture with which to finish it.

Today in Hanabi

Redd! The tease was back in town. This time his legitimate painting was the fine painting. I don’t need it in Hanabi or Kasen, so if anyone out there does need it, let me know.

I was surprised to see Redd because when I asked Booker he just mentioned that we had a camper.

I think our camper was pretty awesome, but I don’t know about the catchphrase “sweatband”. And I don’t even see a sweatband. Maybe a very vivid bandit mask.

To Quantico we Go

I may have taken a little pre-vacation vacation over to Quantico today and done some pre-season fishing (I’m completely freaking out right now irl so a little cheating as stress relief is ok by me). It’s December 1st there so I went and sought out a few fish. I didn’t see a stringfish while I was there but I did find a pond smelt and a sea butterfly. I may also have checked out their camper. I’m so glad she’s not in Hanabi. She makes Kitt look tame.

And that’s all for now. Last post before hiatus will be Friday. Don’t forget about me though. When I get back I think I’m going to do a giveaway for some RL items. I’ve got a duplicate Animal Crossing stylus and an extra copy of Hometown Story both of which could use good homes. I just have to figure out parameters for a giveaway. Random? Haikus? Most sloppy item donations wins? I dunno. The biggest question of all: Do I ship internationally? *shrug*

Ciao.

P.S. I received a US copy of Animal Crossing New Leaf from Nintendo. Thanks, Nintendo.

Animal Crossing New Leaf US: By “we” I mean me

Usual OT Ramblings

I’m going on “vacation” starting this Saturday to add insult to injury with my already stressed studying. I use the term vacation in quotes because I’ve defined the term to mean somewhere new, fun or that I generally want to go. In reality this was supposed to be a trip to the in-laws for Thanksgiving, but thanks to my stupid test date of the Sunday following Thanksgiving there isn’t enough time to actually stay for Thanksgiving and get back in time to take the test…so I deem it a failed trip already. Of course this could just be doom and gloom pre-test me talking.

All this is to say that starting next week updates could be sporadic, missing entirely, or desperate pleas for help.

I’m probably not getting back until the 25 or 26. Then I have my test. Then I have a month or more of moping to do as I wait for my results. Did I mention also that on the week prior to my test they’re putting a new roof on my condo? No studying at home during the day that week.

To my happy place!

New Leaf is often my happy place. Visitors or no. Exciting holidays or not. At least everyone is happy to see me when I show up even if they do want me to catch them bugs or be their interior decorator.

Bug catcher extraordinaire Vella is on it. Although I hope you like monarchs because that's all I see around.

I had Saharah on Saturday as well. I only got Vella’s house done. It wasn’t the greatest job, but I’m not looking for anything in particular. I got a sidewalk out of the deal.

Sunday, bloody Sunday

Joan is messing with me. For weeks and weeks her prices have been over 100 bells a piece. This week when I’m worried about studying, packing, and cleaning before leaving on a trip and therefore don’t have time to dote on the stalk market she’s selling for 94 bells apiece in Hanabi and 91 in Kasen. Evil sow! Evil. I didn’t buy. I need to at some point cause I need to turn a profit for the gold badge, but it’s gonna have to wait until December.

HNI_0026

That’s a lot of books

Tia wanted a petition signed for “Read 100 Books a Year”. I went over to Kasen to get it signed and had the most difficult time getting all 6 signatures. Everyone was hiding from me. Maybe they’re illiterate? I finally tracked down Lillian/Bunnie in the museum and forced her to support Tia’s cause. After all that all I got was a tall mini cactus. Boo!

Yup and I'm pointedly ignoring Yumi's leftover stash of candy.

Yes! Finally.

SLOPPY!!!

I get incredibly excited when I spot a piece of sloppy furniture in Re-Tail. Yesterday morning as I went to pick up a piece of gold furniture (it turned out to be my 6th or 7th gold clock) I noticed an odd looking lamp. It looked a little askew. A little messy. A little awesome! It was a sloppy lamp put up for sale by Felicity. (I love you even though you haven’t given me your picture!)

I haven’t had many sloppy pieces in any of my games. Most of my sloppy furniture was given to me by generous visitors. Thank you so much! I’ve started switching out the balloon furniture in the basement and putting in sloppy furniture. I’m not close to a full set. I put up the old wallpaper and floor since I don’t have either of the sloppy pieces. I still need:

  • Sloppy Bed
  • Sloppy Clock
  • Sloppy Sofa
  • Sloppy Stereo
  • Sloppy Wallpaper
  • Sloppy Carpet

I only have one townie in Kasen that has a piece of the sloppy furniture in his house, Kidd. He has the sloppy table. But I already have that and I don’t know if I sent him something of the same size if he might put it up for sale? I wish I knew how to get the rest of the set, but I haven’t found a good method. Anyone out there know something I don’t?

As for Today

HNI_0063_2

I had a pretty cute camper.
HNI_0066_2

I noticed that the fishing tourney is the day I leave on vacation—which could be good as I’ll be stuck in the car for 6-8 hours but may be bad because for those 6-8 hours I’ll also have the cat stuck in the car too and she doesn’t travel well.
HNI_0065_2

I dug up a rare mushroom! Cha ching! Those sell for a bundle.
HNI_0069_2

I lost at hide and seek somehow…I found everyone but Shep. I don’t know where he was. I think he climbed up in a tree or something.
HNI_0072_2

HNI_0073_2

And that’s about it. I’m sundowning. Stupid time change makes me sleepy.

Hanabi’s Big News

We’re getting an octopus! Octavian to be exact. Not my first choice as far as octopi go, but I’ve never had one in any Animal Crossing game and I’ve always wanted one. I should probably be glad we didn’t get Zucker since I would most likely have tried to eat him. Mmmm takoyaki. 😉

Ugh. I suck at Rock-Paper-Scissors.

Why aren’t you excited? Hanabi rocks! I rock! You should be glad I invited you! Ingrate.

Yay! He looks a little mean, but maybe he can't help it.

Who're you calling sucker, sucker?!

He’s cranky, so maybe after he warms up to me he’ll request the few things that I want Rooney to request that he hasn’t. I can’t wait till he gets settled!

Traitor

O’Hare told me about his youthful days living in Jisuna village and his friend Kokuto. I told my husband (Kokuto) that O’Hare was talking about him and received a fresh round of grumbling. Kokuto is still mad that O’Hare bailed on him. Maybe I should let O’Hare move next time he asks and send him back to Jisuna. 😉

Campers!

It seems like it’s been forever since Hanabi has hosted campers. We had one yesterday and one today. Unfortunately neither of these campers stole my heart and I did not ask either to move in. Come on cute camper!

Gold in them there shop

I hit a good vein of ore the other day and Yumi contributed a stash from Quantico so I’ve been crafting gold furniture like crazy again. Though I complain about not having gotten a closet yet, I don’t actually mind remaking ore a lot because I haven’t gotten my gold remake badge (lazy). But I do like to cry, frown and generally look downtrodden about all my failed gold attempts.

HNI_0057

In addition to the above four, I have another golden carpet and another golden dresser. They’re all listed for about 25,000 bells in the shop which is too rich for my townies’ blood.

HNI_0071

One more ore and then I can cry at Cyrus and make him feel bad again!

Fashion Nightmare

I think I have a mummy shirt, but I keep forgetting to order it, so instead I am part mummy, part zombie or something wearing an undershirt.
I just love the blue eye sticking out of the helmet. It takes so little to make me happy.

I exchanged the red shoes for basketball shoes because it's the closest to white footwear I could find at the time.

Extra Extra

I got a letter from Nintendo this morning. Enclosed was a shogi piece.

I somehow doubt you can play with a single piece.

I somehow doubt you can play with a single piece.

Nintendo is obviously not in the bay area right now while we are having a heat wave and it’s in the 80s in some places. Not quite curl up by the fire weather yet.

Redd!

I get so excited every time Redd shows up, but lately all he does is disappoint me. He didn’t have anything I needed for the museum.

Off to try and catch up in Pokémon because I’m only up to Reflection Cave. I’m slow and have the attention span of a gnat. But we’ll just say I’m trying to savor it…That sounds better.
