Animal Crossing New Leaf US: Welcome to Town

You may be wondering how Hanabi is fairing since I haven’t blogged about it in just about forever. Hanabi is still going strong. I got a little behind, but today I caught up. Yesterday I celebrated nature day. Today I celebrated weeding day and we’re back to present day. What a relief! Here are the highlights.

Sage advice from the game. Too wise, hamster. Too wise.

When last I mentioned it, mayor Vella was mired in the Easter holiday. She didn’t need to be scarfing egg after egg in search of tickets. That was so last year. But she stubbornly persisted in some completionist torture quest to get all of the furniture. Until she got about six pictures of Zipper T. Bunny, decided enough was enough and tried to give them back to the vain furry himself.

But he wouldn’t accept his picture. He wouldn’t even autograph it, so Vella sold them at Re-Tail. What else was she supposed to do with them? She obviously has a picture collecting problem [evidence below] but does not need multiple Zipper pics.

She would, however, be happy to trade duplicate pictures (above) for other animals’ pictures she doesn’t have yet. Any takers?

After giving up on Easter she had a little down time and then all of the sudden it was Nature Day. Or Earth Day as some of us like to call it. She hosted a secretive meeting and a couple people stopped by for globes and to take pictures with the cutout. Vella would like to state for the record that she finds Isabelle’s outfit ugly. She misses the lovely kimonos that Isabelle wears for Japanese events.

True. I'm worried that we might have a stealthily hidden weed impeding a clean town for weeding day...

Some of the townies were not terribly concerned by nature day, but had their own agenda—I’m talking about Barold.

Do crinkly wrappers have something to do with Nature Day? Or do you just want to be able to eat stuff more quietly to avoid detection?

Much later Vella opened up so her estranged husband Kokuto could come get a cool globe. And then she visited Kokuto’s village of Jisuna because she remembered Barold’s petition at the last minute.

The cutout needs to be lit...maybe some little spotlights in the next version?

Curt was totally rude to Vella. She hopes she never has to ask him to sign a petition again. Calling her fuzzball? Mean!

As a reward I got an astro clock. And the satisfaction of doing Barold a solid.

After Nature Day there were just a few short days on weed patrol before Weeding Day. Vella wanted the topiaries even though there’s no room for more PWPs. Vella has assisted during weeding day in Quantico when it gets overwhelmed by weeds, so she’s got the furniture set.

Vella barged into Flurry’s room and found Barold and Flurry hanging out together and Barold gave her some shocking news (no, not that he’s wearing a ladies sweater):

Julian wouldn’t say anything about wanting to move so Vella avoided him for a bit until he felt ready to spit out his moving day plans. Then she vetoed them which is one of her few mayoral privileges.

Thanks for the heads up, Barold.

Then just like that it was Weeding Day. Weeding Day was kind of underwhelming as nothing actually happened except that Vella couldn’t buy a replacement holly shrub for the one she accidentally dug up when aiming for a rogue bamboo shoot.

I would love to but I have to get rid of something...maybe we don't need 2 balloon arches? Or that light by the café?

But town is unbalanced. I dug up a shrub. Leif! Help!

The next few days went by in a flash. Mostly because Octavian asked to move. Vella vetoed and then skipped forward to present day. She hopes not to fall behind again. Especially since her year anniversary as mayor is this Thursday. And she really needs to get to know Aurora better so she can comfortably give her the boot.

P.S. I received a US copy of Animal Crossing New Leaf from Nintendo. Thanks, Nintendo!
P.P.S. I really really want to go to E3 this year. Hook me up?
