Animal Crossing New Leaf US: Lovely Letters

My days in AC have been filled with the usual, playing lots of hide-and-seek (and winning).

Soleil hid pretty well

I had a camper that made me happy we were full in Hanabi. I had Derwin in Wild World and I did not like him.

No you won’t. This is the first and last time I’m entering this tent while you’re here.

And upholding my mayoral responsibilities by listening to my townies’ strange dilemmas. For example, Pashmina’s ramble about getting a pet:

She asked what she should get. Naturally I told her to get an alpaca. Who doesn’t want one?

Yesterday it rained. I dug up a time capsule for Felicity. She had stuck a garbage can in it…

Soleil was not happy with the weather. I commiserated.

And then today Soleil asked to move again. She asks so often it makes me think maybe she’s really unhappy and I should just let her go and keep Flurry. But I like little burrito-chan. Why can’t you just be happy, frijoles!?

Why do you look so shocked? I can’t help it Flurry lives closer and I talk to her more…

I have to remember to run over to Kasen tonight and get a petition signed for Shep:

The most exciting thing that happened? I wrote my daily four (boring, tedious) letters to townies and ran into PHINEAS!!!!

And those are my badges as of today 3/14/14. I’ve been catching every butterfly I see (poor things) and still Phineas hasn’t come for the silver bug badge. I wonder how far away I am from that one? Maybe after vacation I’ll make an effort towards the grinding bug/fish/diving badges. But for now I’m just going to grab butterflies and the occasional honeybee and inch ever closer.

And that’s about it. Tomorrow is the fishing tourney (and Julian’s birthday!), Monday is Shamrock day. If anyone needs to stop by for a hat let me know and I’ll open up.

Next week I may not post. My mom is coming to visit Tuesday. I have an appointment Wednesday, and I go on vacation that Saturday. We’ll see how it goes. 😉

Animal Crossing New Leaf US: A Good Life

Sorry I disappeared again. I’m gonna blame this stupid cold that is hanging on like grim death (and makes me feel like it some days). Some days I wake up and after coughing for 30 minutes feel pretty a-ok and then others I just can’t shake the cold at all and it makes me feel weak as a newborn kitten, which while cute, sucks.

So, what’s new in Hanabi? Ordinarily I’d say nothing, but this afternoon I finally finally got a badge.

Striking Fear into Phineas

I have been actively seeking balloons for what seems like the past couple weeks. I wish the game told you how many of something you need to get the badge instead of being mysterious (Disney Magic Castle tells you exactly how many of anything you need for a stamp. It spoiled me). I despaired of ever getting the stupid badge. I would shoot down a balloon and then go talk to Booker (Copper? I don’t remember which one I have) and see if Phineas had popped up. He never did. Today I was looking for a balloon when I saw Phineas lurking behind Barold’s house. I ran up like an addict looking for a fix and demanded a badge. And now I can retire my slingshot. At least with Vella. I’m still trying for this badge with Yumi.

Waffle

I didn’t blog about it, but I posted on twitter that O’Hare wanted to move. I love that side of my town with O’Hare’s house and Felicity’s house. I finally decided that I could reset and get someone over there again so I would let him go. The barrage of adorable campers (not least of which Apple in Kasen’s campground while we’re full there too) made me want to get in some fresh blood, or at least allow for the possibility of a new cutie. So he was supposed to leave the 25th.

The day he asked to move I had Nibbles in Hanabi. Grrrr.

So I kept talking to him each day and each day he’d guilt me about leaving making it harder and harder to tell him to get his sorry a$$ out of Hanabi, but I kept telling him to go. And then he changed his mind and decided to stay and become my bestest friend in the whole wide world. *sigh*

Other Happenings

That was the big newsâ€”there’s not much big news any more, take it or leave it. The rest of my time was spent hosting visitors, playing hide-and-seek and getting a PWP request I couldn’t turn down.

I took out one of the Zen lights yesterday and put in the log bench today to be completed tomorrow. It’s a little askew of where I wanted it, but I didn’t have much to go on… It’s hidden in the middle of my cherry grove where I can’t get any trees to grow.

Festivale / Girl’s Day

As the bulletin board announced today, Festivale is next week on March 3. You may not know, the Japanese holiday of Girls’ Day falls on the same day this year which is ultra rare. Apparently Isabelle will be standing in front of town hall allowing for PavÃ© to shake his booty in town square. Even if I’m still sick (dear god no!) I’m going to open up Kasen that day for the festivities. I’ll open up at the usual time 10am-noon PST (GMT-8). If you can’t make it then let me know and I can open again later or save you a rice cake from the festivities. I’m trying to get 500 visitors over to Kasen and I’m around 100 shy of that so the more the merrier.

Animal Crossing New Leaf US: You Are AMAZING!

Phineas?

Yesterday I wet over to Kasen for my usual evening cataloging of around 20 items. When I got back I checked in with Booker just because you never know who might be lurking in the borders of your town. Booker told me Phineas was in Hanabi so I pulled out my megaphone and hollered for him. I finally cornered him in between Octavian’s house and town hall. He gave me the gold catalog badge. While I’m overjoyed that I finally got it, it’s a little bittersweet because I finally double-checked my entire item list and after all is said and done I still have almost 300 items to catalog. And now my motivation (the badge) is gone.

I took a look at my badges to see what else I could work toward. I wrote a few letters (still need gold in that) and decided to head off to the island to catch some fish and bugs. I only have bronze in those two and I could stand to raise some cash as well because I still need the saver badge for 100,000,000 bells and it would be nice if I could get a few million on my own and not completely drain Yumi.

There weren’t any tours I felt like doing, so I decided to island hop a little (still need a blue wet suit). Along the way I found silver axes! I still have a few and I’m not planning on chopping down many trees, but you never know when the destructive urge will strike so I bought a few.

Keeping Friends

Even though Julian gave me his picture I’m still trying to be nice to him and fulfill his every whim. Yesterday his whims included visiting my house instead of talking out in the cold so I took him on the tour (that he’s been on several times). The automated fortune telling machine seems to think I should spill my secrets to him, but I don’t know if I can really trust him…

We’ve had this conversation. Do. It. Now.

Today in Hanabi

I haven’t had too much time to play. I walked out and Pete was waiting with a letter from Nintendo. We’ve been getting an awful lot of those lately. This one was reminding me about the DLC running through February. Ordinarily I’d scoff, but I wouldn’t mind stocking up on a few more pumpkin pies and afternoon tea sets in case anyone needs them. 😉

It was snowing like crazy mad and while my dress is warm and cozy it still makes me cold. Didn’t seem to phase Felicity though.

Aside from that all I really had time for was the great snowball hunt. The second one was quite elusive today. I finally found it and joined the two together much to the elation of the snowboy.

I received the snowman carpet in the mail this morning, so I think all I need now is the snowman table and the snowman chair. Then on to snowmam and bingo.

Animal Crossing New Leaf US: That’s No Bueno

The Longest Night

It was a little weird although it would make sense if I had my Japanese 3DS on Japanese time. In the US Animal Crossing the solstice was on the 21st. In the Japanese game it was on the 22nd. I was confused I had the day wrong on my 3DS or something when Isabelle wasn’t standing outside in Kasen to greet me.

I’ll see if I can bring you a nice hot cup of coffee. K?

That’s even worse than ma’am. You may be on my moving list Shep. 😛

The long night didn’t stop Phineas from showing up. I finally got the dreamer badge! Which means I have at least bronze in every badge. Yay!

Heartened by my encounter with Phineas I looked at my badges and decided that I could money launder with Yumi to get the savings badge. She has almost 100,000,000 bells sitting in her bank account. She generously donated almost 20 million in 1.5 million increments to get Vella’s account to 20 million. You only need 10 million for the badge, but Vella is a little greedy. I just know I’m not going through that turnip cheating fiasco again. I’d rather bankrupt Yumi to get Vella to 100,000,000. It’s much easier.

And after my efforts I ran into Phineas again. I feel a little guilty about his savings speech but you do what you’ve gotta do.

Sometime in the middle of all the money laundering (which really just means I withdrew money with Yumi, plopped it on the ground, had Vella pick it up and deposit it until I had 20 million bells) I took the time to visit K.K. After I got back from Kasen I had a letter from him with his picture! [link goes to miiverse. I hope it works…]

Catalog Day from Hell: AKA Sunday

I dunno why I’m on a badge kick. I guess because it gives me a goal. I’ve been playing for over a year now. I could easily just log on every day, make sure no one’s moving and log off, but the badges give me something to work toward.

First in the continuing quest for badges I purchased about a million bells worth of turnips from Kasen for 92 bells apiece. I realize this was probably a bad move as I’ll be out of town after Wednesday but even the purchase price goes toward the badge so even if I lose money I still make headway just not as much). Regardless, if you get good prices remember me. I’m a good tipper. 😉

After buying turnips I looked at Vella’s badges and I realized that she only had silver in the catalog badge. Yumi has gold because over the summer I went on an insane catalog hunt and ordered everything from streetpass houses that I could so all total I need fewer than 50 items for my catalog (not counting stationery or gyroids or unreleased items). Vella helped to order things that she had that Yumi needed, but largely didn’t share in the great catalog completion. I’ve been dreading taking stock of Vella’s catalog because the only English guide/list that I have is the Prima guide and if you have the prima guide you know that they just threw the items up on the page putting them in no discernible order. I had a day with nothing to do so I decided I could bite the bullet and sort out Vella’s clothing catalog. I spent the entire day just checking off shoes, socks, accessories, hats, dresses, bottoms, and tops. At the end of the day I found out that Vella needed over 400 of those items alone. I haven’t even looked at furniture. I put the master list up on moridb and I’m slowly buying stuff from shops and having Yumi order items. I’m almost down to 300 just from cataloging Gracie items and buying things I needed from the shop.

In the midst of this I came to the realization that because of her allergy to shopping Vella only has the silver shopping badge. So I need to spend money on the king’s crown in Able’s shop today that I don’t really need…or maybe have her buy Gracie furniture, but I don’t really want a second set of gorgeous furniture. The things you do for badges…

So I don’t have many pictures to show for yesterday. While I was hunched over my computer desk Vella was hunched over the ordering Kiosk in the emporium for so long that the game crashed. It freaked me out, but everything seems ok. Oh my aching neck.

But, when I did stop poring over the catalog I found out we had a camper. We’re full up so there’s no inviting him in, but Rowan is pretty cute.

Today in Hanabi

Well, I bought stuff. I made sure to hit Kicks and the Able sisters. I did buy that king’s crown they had. Sadly Kasen has a king’s crown too (what are the odds?) and I’ll probably run over there and buy theirs as well. So with any luck I’ll have that gold shopping badge by tomorrow.

Gulliver washed ashore. You can always count on him to be passed out when nothing’s going on. I decided to steer him to the correct destination just in case I need the item he’ll send me. 😛

I think I want to go to dinner with Gulliver. He loves exotic food and I do too. 😉

Toy Day Dead Ahead!

OMG tomorrow is Toy Day! I’m feeling all right about delivering presents in Hanabi, but in Kasen Lolly still hasn’t said what she wanted. Two of my townies have said they want something green, but not elaborated. Kitt will be in boxes and we just got a new townie today—Lobo the wolf. He’s my hubby’s favorite villager so when I saw him in the igloo I snatched him up. But the timing is a little bad. Needless to say I’m kinda worried and will probably make an attempt tonight to get Lolly to tell me what she wants and try and get Zell and Kidd to tell me what kind of green thing they want. Oh! And the icing on the cake—Lillian/Bunnie is sick. Toy Day may very well be ruined. Eep.

IRL I have to pack for a Christmas trip to LA Orange County and bake a blueberry pie for my 91 year-old grandma who isn’t doing very well.

Now the cat is coming (and she hates driving. Ugh) because one of my friends from LA who lives in Salt Lake City will be flying home for the holidays so we’ve extended the trip by a few days to see him. Yay! So whether I blog on Friday or not is a toss up. Depends on whether the internet in the hotel sucks, and how much down time I have.

Animal Crossing New Leaf US: Snowflake Senses are Tingling

Just whisper what you want for toy day in my ear.

First thing yesterday I ran into Phineas. I knew what he was there for—to give me a badge for completing my bug encyclopedia, even though I was secretly hoping he would give me the badge for visiting dream villages. A girl can…dream. I play Animal Crossing. I get to pun.

Thanks to Miiverse’s screen capture I was even able to get a clear picture of my current badge album. I had to screen capture in order to get it for the blog, but at least I know I can take decent pictures of letters and stuff now!

Still missing that dreaming badge. I’m trying now though!

Had Redd again. Didn’t get what I needed. Got a flowery painting I’m wondering if I should even bother saving these paintings.

Snow Family

Yesterday I made a snowmam (WTH is a snowmam? Why couldn’t it just be snowmama? Is the one letter really too long?). Ahem. I think I’m just bitter because she went on and on about her beauty and refinement and then proceeded to tell me that she wanted five snowflakes for a piece of the ice set. I didn’t feel like snowflake hunting all day, so she only got one set of five and all I got was an ice wall.

Today in Hanabi

I started out with Locke today because I had a bunch of stuff on the ground I wanted her to pick up. After that she rolled out a perfect snowman.

Tomorrow with a little luck I’ll put together a snowtyke and get a present. 🙂 I missed out on a couple of those last year in Kasen due to my atrocious snowman making abilities, so I’m going for the snowtyke presents first this year.

After that Vella took over. She still has to visit a town for Shep’s “Cute Animals are Cute” petition. I thought that was a given?

Vella found a lostâ€¦somethingâ€¦on the ground. I was really hoping it belonged to Tia or Julian because it seems like animals often give you their picture for returning lost items, but sadly when I inquired both denied that it was theirs.

Turns out it was Rooney’s. I already have his picture so the excitement about returning it sort of faded.

I spy with my Little Eye

You know how I was hoping to get a letter from the museum after completing it? Didn’t happen. Turns out you get the museum model the same way you get all the other wallpapers and floors for completing collections: by lucking into them upstairs. I didn’t have to wait too long for it though.

And it’s reorderable!

I’ll have to give one to Yumi for Toy Day since those elusive 3 paintings for her museum might take a while.

Aside from that

My townies keep telling me 1) they’re cold 2) the fishing tourney is tomorrow. I’m not sure if it’s going to be a free for all tourney or a specific fish tourney, so I don’t know if I should spend the evening catching big fish on the island. As you can tell from my badge picture I still need to catch a lot of fish, so even if tomorrow is a specific fish tourney I could use the fish and profits could go toward expanding Olive’s house.

I still haven’t had an igloo! I want an igloo!
